Apéro in Zermatt and afternoon tea is a wonderful thing! It’s that lovely time of day when you can relax over a a smooth, rich coffee, hot cup of delicious tea or even a steaming cup of gluhwein (also known as mulled wine). We decided to open at 3pm so we could offer our guests the chance to enjoy a quieter type of apéro. At Brasserie Uno, you can sit down in our cosy restaurant and enjoy the surroundings along with a hot drink, a slice of cake, a delicious biscuit or even some savoury snacks.

CAKES AND SWEET TREATS – A ZERMATT DELIGHT
Yesterday the owner, Andreas, and our chef Louise baked these beautiful little apple spiced tea cakes, which we dusted with icing sugar. As you can see, we had to try one (yum) and honestly, you’d never know they were vegan. Honestly, they were delicious! We aim to have at least one vegan snack available so everyone can enjoy their afternoon tea. Our other chef, Luis, also made a yummy spice mix and then coated a beautiful selection of pecans, cashews, almonds and sunflower seeds in it and lightly roasted the lot. They are incredible – not too spicy and totally addictive!
WE TRY TO HAVE VEGAN AND VEGETARIAN OPTIONS FOR OUR APERO AND AFTERNOON TEA, WHICH IS WHY WE HAVE A SELECTION OF THINGS LIKE VEGAN APPLE CAKE, SPICE-COATED NUTS AND SWEDISH CHOCOLATE BALLS FOR OUR CUSTOMERS TO ENJOY

The owner, Andreas, grew up in Sweden and like all Swedish kids was obsessed with the nation’s go-to sweet treat: chokladbollar (pronounced hockladbollar), otherwise known as Chocolate Balls. If you’ve never tried one you must! They are so simple and yet ridiculously tasty, and because they are made using oatmeal, they’ve even a bit good for you (sort of). He also made the classic Kanelbullar – Swedish cinnamon buns – which are scrumptious!

NEW TEA MENU FOR APERO
We also just introduced a brand new tea menu with a few old standards and some interesting new blends. Alongside a classic black tea (just like a good English cuppa) and a mild Sencha green tea, we have two caffeine-free teas. Pure peppermint and rooibos (also known as Red Bush tea from South Africa). We now also offer our own special blends. Ceylon Rose is a soft black tea blended with aromatic rose petals and is perfect for anyone who wants a mild black tea with a twist. The great thing about this tea is you can enjoy it with milk, on its own or with lemon, sweetened with a little honey if you wish.
You can also enjoy a glass of wine or try our homemade limoncello
We also have Pink Delight, a lovely rosehip and hibiscus flower herbal tea. It has that classic tart rosehip taste, slightly mellowed by the hibiscus flower and when it’s brewed it’s the most beautiful shade of deep pink. Our Lemon Splash is an interesting mix of zingy lemon verbena leaves mixed with chamomile flowers – it’s energising and calming at the same time! And finally we’ve got a seasonal tea on the menu, our Winter Warmer. It contains all sorts of lovely immune-boosting herbs and flowers: yarrow, marigold, elderflower, thyme, sage, nettle, peppermint and eyebright.
GLUHWEIN, PROSECCO AND LONG DRINKS
And of course during our afternoon tea time, you can order anything you like off the drinks menu! Popular choices with our customers are hot mugs of gluhwein, cold glasses of prosecco, our very own homemade organic rhubarb G&Ts and Moscow Mules.
